Practical skills for everyday work

Make AI useful to your team.

Work on familiar business tasks, from drafting emails and organising information to marketing, customer service and simple reporting. Your sector workshop focuses on the skills your team needs most.

  • Use AI tools confidently, with human review
  • Practise on anonymised workplace examples
  • Understand responsible use and data protection
  • Leave with clear next steps for staff development

A community opportunity

An affordable way to help local businesses prepare for a changing workplace.

The AI Readiness Challenge brings employers together to understand the capabilities of their teams, respond to skills gaps and provide evidence of progress. It is designed to fit around busy work schedules, including shift-based industries.

For employers

Identify strengths and gaps, receive a clear team-level readiness summary, and plan more effective development.

For employees

Develop practical AI skills, understand responsible use and receive evidence of assessed learning.

The programme

Three days. Four hours.

A manageable schedule with measurable outcomes.

190 minutes

Day 1 · Assess

Discover & assess

Optional local networking and programme briefing (30 min), followed by a structured GCA baseline assessment (60 min). Remote assessment access available.

290 minutes

Day 2 · Develop

Develop practical AI skills

Live online sector-specific workshop, using baseline themes to focus on relevant workplace tasks and responsible AI use.

360 minutes

Day 3 · Reassess

Reassess & report

Final comparable GCA assessment, a practical challenge and explanation of scores. Digital reports and certificates follow after marking and review.

Shift-friendly delivery. Proposed morning, afternoon or evening online assessment windows, subject to sufficient enrolment. The in-person launch is optional for remote participants.

What employers receive

Clearer insight. Practical development. Evidence of progress.

01

Workforce baseline

Structured, relevant GCA measures for current AI understanding and responsible workplace usage.

02

Skills-gap summary

A snapshot of strengths and training priorities; not an employee performance or disciplinary rating.

03

Targeted training

A practical online session aligned to the participating industry and common assessment gaps.

04

Comparable reassessment

Post-training results using consistent competency objectives and comparably difficult tasks.

05

Certificates and results

Digital completion evidence and competency certificates for staff who meet the stated pass standard.

06

Team-level report

Aggregated readiness findings and recommended next steps for the employer.

The important distinction. Assessment gains demonstrate progress on measured skills. They do not guarantee productivity or financial results in 2027, and certificates are not professional licences.
